Before I tried the paleo diet I had quite literally experimented with every diet out there. Atkins, Blood type, Jenny Craig, 100 mile diet…the list goes on. I just couldn’t shift my excess weight and it was beyond frustrating.
Quite frankly I was depressed with all this dieting and had all but given up until an old friend of mine came back into my life looking frustratingly super. She was a paleo diet enthusiast and introduced me to a life changing experience that has given me more than just my confidence back.
The paleo diet is basically eating like our ancestors did. This means cutting out all processed foods with high sugar and salt content. It also means no dairy and no wheat. Yes I know, it sounded boring to me at first, too. But the range of paleo recipes is incredible. I no longer needed to avoid deserts; I just needed to eat the right deserts. I no longer have boring toast for breakfast, instead I make quick and very healthy paleo breakfast recipes. I no longer needed to skip meals and starve myself; I could eat regularly, three meals a day with treats in between meals if I felt peckish.
This diet feels so natural, like this is how we are supposed to eat – probably because it is. I feel less bloated, more energetic and best of all I have lost 3 stone in 10 months! The difference is that this weight loss is sustainable, as opposed to other diets where I always put the weight back on straight away. My body has now settled at a comfortable optimum weight.
